Press release from WildVoice:

WildVoice Podcaster ‘Ron Nasty’ Launches Halloween Series of True Horror Stories

Daily tales of the undead set for ‘Final Taxi’ Podcasts starting October 25

STAMFORD, Conn. – October 24, 2006 – Ron Nasty’s ‘Final Taxi’ Podcasts typically celebrate the lives of entertainers who’ve recently passed away.  Starting October 25, he’ll shift his focus to the undead for a week of daily podcasts on ghosts, vampires and haunted houses.  Each day he’ll tell a true horror story, culminating with a final show for the series on Halloween night at midnight.  For a preview, go to www.wildvoice.com/People/RonNasty.aspx

“Halloween is about taking the morbid, scary and unknown and then making it something fun and celebratory.  ‘Final Taxi’ has a similar goal – taking news of a tragic loss and turning it into a nostalgic and fun celebration of life,” said Ron Nasty.  “A week of true horror stories was a perfect fit to commemorate Halloween with some truly creepy Podcasts of those who never quite got out of their Final Taxi.”

Final Taxi
‘Final Taxi’ is a regular Podcast and fan favorite on WildVoice.com, an online community for listening, creating and sharing personal media broadcasts.  Ron Nasty provides audio obituaries for celebrities, musicians, writers and other entertainment luminaries, remembering their lives and contributions after they pass away.

“Whenever I heard that an entertainer has passed away – especially an actor from a favorite childhood show – I’d get nostalgic and talk to friends, remembering back to old times.  When I discovered WildVoice, I thought that others might also enjoy hearing my tributes to lost entertainers, leading to the creation of ‘Final Taxi,’” said Ron Nasty.

WildVoice makes it fun and easy to create, share and enjoy Podcasts.  WildVoice.com features a wide range of audio broadcasts, including movie reviews, original music, shock jock talk shows and political diatribes.  Anyone can contribute a Podcast.  Users can create professional-quality shows with WildVoice Studio – an easy-to-use application that creates Podcasts and lets you include special effects, theme music and pre-recorded clips to be included.  WildVoice Shout allows for quick and spontaneous recording right from the Web page.  To create your own, or hear what others have done, please go to www.WildVoice.com

Convert That Blog/RSS Feed Into An MP3

Posted by michaelshawnlane on October 24, 2006

For those of you who are tired of reading your favorite blog or RSS feed now using Odiogo software it will turn that feed into an MP3.  Odiogo downloads your favorite blog feeds or RSS news and converts the text into an MP3 file that you can listen via an MP3 player.

In three easy steps it will convert your favorite blog feeds or RSS news.  First you select the feed.  Then you click refresh to download the feeds and then Odiogo converts them into an MP3 file.  The last step you drop the file onto your MP3 player.

The cost of the software is $29.99, with a 15 day money back guarantee.  The software works on Windows XP or Windows 2000, sorry Mac users.

I listened to the samples on there website.  The software does a really good job of converting the text to speech.  The voice quality is relatively good.  It does sound robotic at times.  Over-all if you are looking for a software package to convert your favorite blog feeds or RSS news so that you can listen to them.  Odiogo might be what you need.

AllofMP3 Can’t Accept Your Credit Card

Posted by michaelshawnlane on October 19, 2006

The Russian based company AllofMP3 will no longer be able to accept Visa or MasterCard for payment. They are directing you to another site to make payment. “The action Visa has taken is in line with legislation passed in Russia and with basic international copyright and intellectual property norms,” a Visa spokesman said.

If you have never heard of AllofMP3 they have a similar service like iTunes. They offer music for download at a fraction of the cost compared to other similar services. The company operates in Russia and they pay royalties to the Russian licensing group. The problem with that is it never gets to the artists of the music that is sold. Lately AllofMP3 has come under an enormous amount of fire.

Will AllofMP3 survive without being able to accept major credit cards? I am not sure anyone knows the answer to that, but they certainly are still operating.

Creative Zen Vision:M Firmware Disables FM Recording

Posted by michaelshawnlane on October 13, 2006

The latest firmware for the Creative Zen Vision:M does something you might want to know about.  It disables the your ability you once had to record FM radio.  In the release notes for firmware update 1.50.02 it states it will disable the FM recording capabilities.  Well it seems from the user forums on Creatives website many owners are a little upset by this.

I don’t understand why companies feel that it is right to disable features in firmware updates.  I assume Creative disabled the FM recording feature because of pressure from the RIAA.  I have not been able to locate an official release from Creative on why they did this.  If anyone has information on this please let us know.

Does Your MP3 Player Give You A Massage?

Posted by michaelshawnlane on October 12, 2006

The OSIM iGoGo is taking the mp3 player to a new level.  The iGoGo turns your music into a music-synchronized massage.  The player comes with two wireless massagers.  They use RF wireless technology and attach using the Hydro Gel pads onto any part of your body.  There are 7 massage programmes to choose from: Morning Massage, Night Massage, Trim Massage, Relax Massage, Cellulite Massage, Back Massage,  and Shoulder Massage.  The iGoGo player comes with 128MB built-in with an external slot for MMC card of up to 512MB.  Works with PC or Mac.

This player does not come cheap.  The list price is $826.00.  I better feel really good after using the iGoGo at that price.

Microsoft Zune Is The Price Right?

Posted by michaelshawnlane on September 27, 2006

We know that the Microsoft Zune will sell for $249.99. That is a good price point for the device. But will the Zune be able to cut into the Apple iPod market share. There is a possibility that it just might do that. With the ability to send songs via wife to another Zune user I can see this really taking off in the younger demographic. Especially in schools and colleges. Also the ability to connect it to the Xbox 360 or TV.

The Zune on paper certainly sounds like a promising portable media device. Until the Zune is out and people are actually able to use one. We don’t really know how good the device will really be. The Zune’s release date has not been announced. It certainly will be release in time for the holiday shopping season.

So let me know your thoughts on this. Do you think the Zune over time will cut into the Apple iPod market share? I would love to know your thoughts on this.

The StormBlue A9+ with Bluetooth

Posted by michaelshawnlane on September 25, 2006

First of all I am not digging the name of this media player. The StormBlue A9+ really does have some impressive features. The Bluetooth capabilities allows you to use Bluetooth headphones. Another option is the Bluetooth allows you to link with your mobile phone. This will allow you hands-free operations via the player. This is certainly a cool feature.

The storm blue A9+ has a 2 inch 260K Full Color screen. It comes with video conversion software to convert MPG, ASF, AVI, DAT and WMV files into MPEG4 files. If you want to listen to music instead of watching videos. The player support MP3, WMA, WMA DRM and Ogg Vorbis. You get 39 hours of battery life during audio playback and up to 11 hours when watching videos.
