Musicast Here Comes The RIAA

Posted by michaelshawnlane on August 30, 2006

Musicast gives you the ability to stream your iTunes playlist to the internet as a webpage or podcast. You or your friends can access your music and subscribe to it in iTunes or a RSS reader.

For $18.00 Musicast gives you the ability to open your playlist to anyone you want. You do have the abililty to choose which songs you want to be played.

So what about the RIAA. Well Musicast statement on this is “Musicast is completely legal as long as you’re not sharing copyrighted material. Even if you do happen to be sharing stuff you aren’t supposed to be, Mr. RIAA would have to guess your IP address to even find your Musicast to see your huge stash of copyrighted music.”

So there you have it. Completely legal and if not it will be difficult for the RIAA to find you.

SpiralFrog and Universal Music Group Sign Agreement to Offer Free Music Downloads

Posted by michaelshawnlane on August 29, 2006

Spiral FrogSpiralFrog the new music download site, has signed an agreement with Universal Music Group.

So what does this mean. SpiralFrog is going to offer UMG’s catalog for legal downloading in the United States and Canada. What makes this so interesting is you will be able to download the music for free. SpiralFrog is able to do this by the advertising dollars they generate on there website.

This is a bold move by Universal Music Group. I am not sure all artists will agree that this such a good agreement. Only time will tell if SpiralFrog can obtain enough advertising to pay the artisits.

Dell DJ Ditty No More

Posted by michaelshawnlane on August 24, 2006

Well I don’t think this is a big surprise to anyone. Dell has decided to quit selling the DJ Ditty. So why didn’t this mp3 player sell? You have the largest PC manufacturer in the world behind it.

The reason is not the hardware, it is the content portal you get the music from. This is something that Apple understands.

Samsung 8GB Music Phone SCH-B570

Posted by michaelshawnlane on August 24, 2006

Samsung latest offering is the ‘Super music phone’ in Korea. This mobile phone has some of the latest technology available. It comes with a 8GB hard drive for MP3 files, Personal Media Player movies or digital photos. It even has the ability for mobile TV anywhere.

When it comes to audio this mobile phone rocks with features such as 5.1 channel virtual stereo. What does this mean? You will be able to obtain the same quality sound as a 5.1 channel home theater.

Some other features to note for those in Korea. The SCH-B570 allows users to search for information on gold courses. You can manage your score. It also has an alarm clock. That is not that impressive, but what is impressive is when the alarm goes off. You shake the phone to turn the alarm off.

Samsung certainly has introduced a mobile phone with some very impressive functions.

So for a limited time (no word on how long this will last) you can download movies for $9.99 the same day they are released on DVD. You can purchase movies in there catalog for $4.99 and TV show epos ides for $0.49. You can also rent movies for $0.99.
