Convert That Blog/RSS Feed Into An MP3

Posted by michaelshawnlane on October 24, 2006

For those of you who are tired of reading your favorite blog or RSS feed now using Odiogo software it will turn that feed into an MP3.  Odiogo downloads your favorite blog feeds or RSS news and converts the text into an MP3 file that you can listen via an MP3 player.

In three easy steps it will convert your favorite blog feeds or RSS news.  First you select the feed.  Then you click refresh to download the feeds and then Odiogo converts them into an MP3 file.  The last step you drop the file onto your MP3 player.

The cost of the software is $29.99, with a 15 day money back guarantee.  The software works on Windows XP or Windows 2000, sorry Mac users.

I listened to the samples on there website.  The software does a really good job of converting the text to speech.  The voice quality is relatively good.  It does sound robotic at times.  Over-all if you are looking for a software package to convert your favorite blog feeds or RSS news so that you can listen to them.  Odiogo might be what you need.

AllofMP3 Can’t Accept Your Credit Card

Posted by michaelshawnlane on October 19, 2006

The Russian based company AllofMP3 will no longer be able to accept Visa or MasterCard for payment. They are directing you to another site to make payment. “The action Visa has taken is in line with legislation passed in Russia and with basic international copyright and intellectual property norms,” a Visa spokesman said.

If you have never heard of AllofMP3 they have a similar service like iTunes. They offer music for download at a fraction of the cost compared to other similar services. The company operates in Russia and they pay royalties to the Russian licensing group. The problem with that is it never gets to the artists of the music that is sold. Lately AllofMP3 has come under an enormous amount of fire.

Will AllofMP3 survive without being able to accept major credit cards? I am not sure anyone knows the answer to that, but they certainly are still operating.

Creative Zen Vision:M Firmware Disables FM Recording

Posted by michaelshawnlane on October 13, 2006

The latest firmware for the Creative Zen Vision:M does something you might want to know about.  It disables the your ability you once had to record FM radio.  In the release notes for firmware update 1.50.02 it states it will disable the FM recording capabilities.  Well it seems from the user forums on Creatives website many owners are a little upset by this.

I don’t understand why companies feel that it is right to disable features in firmware updates.  I assume Creative disabled the FM recording feature because of pressure from the RIAA.  I have not been able to locate an official release from Creative on why they did this.  If anyone has information on this please let us know.
